25% of consumers would purchase Apple iTV if one was produced

A couple of Market research firms conducted a survey and determined that 25% of consumers in the United States would purchase an Apple television set if Apple ever made one.

If you stuck an Apple emblem and a $500 price tag on a turd peole would buy it. I don't get it, and personally hope the "Apple cult" ends soon.

    Cant agree with you ...

I always was an IBM fan, working professionally since the early 80's with IBM equipment.

By that time, in the PC world, a machine had to be IBM compatible. Period.

    I really hated Apple.

Then around the end of the century, the IBM PC division started to fade away, today its called Lenovo.

In the meantime all sorts of PC's with compatibility problems were produced, which means that many people spent countless hours chasing elusive bugs.

Even worse you had to live with something called Microsoft.

Apple hardware, by then, really sucked.

Today Apple has really nice products, that work creating a minimum of problems to the owners.

In the last two years i got one iPhone, one iPad, one Apple TV 2.

My daughter has an iPod touch.

One of these days i will try an apple computer ...

Its not difficult for me, at all, to understand "the Apple cult".

I was a Mac user in the 80's and then the company famously derailed. I became very frustrated about how they handled their hardware and operating system releases and I abandoned Apple products for a very long time. As hardware rapidly advanced in the early 2000's I made an intentional effort to buy anything non-Apple in computers and mobile devices. I went through mp3 player after mp3 player and laptop/notebook one after the other. The notebooks, while expensive, basically fell apart after a few years. They were not designed or manufactured for even careful-use durability.

The end of the road was what I have called "Dell Hell." I had an extended warranty on a notebook that was failing. I'd end up being connected to India or the Philippines, placed on hold and eventually transferred to non-existent phone extensions that dumped the calls. Each reattempt at the call would result in me having to go through exactly the same pre-check questions and actions before dumping me. The worst case was an attempt where I was in a hold queue for two and half hours, back through the same line of questions because nobody could seem to find any records that I had called before, and then once qualified, yes, you guessed it, I was transferred to an extension that said it was closed and to please call back during business hours. That call took away more than four hours of my life that I will never get back.

Scalabis, you mentioned IBM/Lenovo. In my last job my co-worker was given a Lenovo to use. In a short time the notebook developed huge hardware problems. After getting all kinds of run-around trying to set up a service ticket he eventually was told there was a service center about 90 miles away. It just so happened that he needed to be in that city the next week. He asked if he could bring it to that center. They said yes and issued a ticket number. When he got to the place it was a giant expanse of a room with empty cubicles. He said it looked like it had once been a call center. The doors were open, the lights were on but the place was empty. He came back twice that day and finally found one person there. That person took the laptop and said they'd ship it back when it was finished. About three weeks later he got it back with exactly the same problems it went to them. It's not as if it was an oversight. Simply turning on the computer would have made it painfully obvious that the computer had problems.

I bought a Macbook Pro in 2008. Yes, it was pricey but I bought a refurb directly from Apple which took several hundred off the price. I have never had a more reliable computer than this one. I had one minor issue with the optical drive. I don't have an Apple store anywhere near me but Apple sent me a shipping box, they had it the next day, repaired it the same day and I had it back in my hands the morning of the following day. Had I had an Apple store near me I wouldn't have been without it at all. I run all of my Mac and PC software from the Macbook Pro. My computer has been extremely reliable and I don't forsee any need to change to another model any time soon. My four year old MBP is running like a champ.

After dealing with clunky feature phones into the 2000's I got the first iPhone followed by the second (I gave the first to my wife). I did not get a 3GS as I didn't see any point to it. When the 4 came out I avoided it due to the antenna-gate issue. I moved on to a Droid X. I've had the Droid X for just under 2 years and that will be the end for the Android phones. As the phone has taken app and OS updates across the last 2 years it has become more and more unstable. I might chalk it up to a phone issue but my wife has the same phone and has the same problems.

Unfortunately, most integrated systems, such as in cars, give significant preference to the Phones for features and usability. I have a Parrot integrated Bluetooth system in my car. I can do basic streaming and calling with my Android phone but I would pick up a significant number of features with an iPhone. So, when the new release rolls around in the fall, I will be moving back to an iPhone.

I've had the 1st (mine), 2nd (my wife's) and 3rd (mine) generation iPads. I own an Android-based tablet. Hands down, the iPads are the far better device. The Android tablet feels like someone's project that isn't yet completed.
